Matt Smith, or M., as he is known, is an artist based on the Gold Coast, Australia. A mixed-media artist, M. works with acrylic, oil pastel, and pastel on both canvas and paper.

He was a finalist in the Sydney Rocks Art Prize (2001) with two pieces. M. has exhibited in multiple galleries, including a solo show on the Gold Coast (Lotus Gallery, 2002) and a group exhibition in New York City (World Fine Art Gallery, 2003). His work is held in private collections across Europe, North America, and Australia.

M.'s work has been featured in TV series and in the men’s style sections of magazines, alongside his clothing range.

“My work is really the manifestation of my subconscious mind. There are recurring themes of technology and mythology, intertwined with feelings of transcendence and redemption.
I’m fascinated by words—what they mean, our connection to them, and the attachments we place upon them.
I have always loved stories about second chances. I think that really reflects my story, and the stories of my art.”
